Business Analyst/Consultant (Capital Markets)


Job description

Consultants are their 'face' in the market. They are who their clients see and work with, and thus represent all that the company stands for - consistent, exceptional delivery of business value by experienced practitioners. Primarily focused on the delivery of assignments to their client base, the role sees consultants collaborate closely with colleagues and clients, providing:
  • analyses of problems/processes/data and ad-hoc advisory services
  • presentation of issues, challenges, solutions, next stages
  • requirements definition/gathering, analysis & documentation, including running or assisting in workshops
  • definition and delivery of solutions - project management, coordination and reporting of workstreams / programmes

There will be significant travel required, mainly to London and some to mainland Europe.

Depending on level of experience, Consultants will also:
  • Build close, collaborative sponsor and client relationships, spotting and developing opportunities where company can provide value and services to clients.
  • Build close collaborative relationships with colleagues and involve them in shaping and delivering differentiated solutions
  • Provide insights into the market for company services
  • Attract, manage and develop more junior colleagues to produce a strong cohesive team of consultants and create followership


  • A recognized science based degree
  • A track record of consulting experience within financial markets with hands-on Markets change experience
  • Strong Business Analysis capability, enhanced, ideally, with project management experience and hands-on delivery of major change/transformation programmes
  • A track record of liaison, communication and relationship building – managing senior clients/stakeholders consultatively and effectively
  • Excellent communication skills - in particular listening, summarizing and dissemination
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and encourage decision-making at senior levels
  • Demonstrates an open, positive, pragmatic, collaborative approach in all client and team dealings

Domain Knowledge:
  • Breadth and depth of financial product knowledge across multiple asset classes, particularly derivatives
  • Depth of experience in a primary functional area, such as Operations, Front Office, Technology or Finance but with exposure to others.
