Job description

This is a full-time, hybrid-travel role for a PLC Programmer – Commissioning Engineer based in Klaipėda. The position features a 70/30 work split, where you will spend 70% of your time working from our office in Klaipėda, and up to 30% traveling globally for international project commissioning and site testing. Our new PLC Programmer – Commissioning Engineer must be willing to work on ships and being able to take courses to acquire Seamans Basic Safety Certificate, Seamans Book, Seamans Medical Certificate and other courses.
You will be responsible for programming, testing, and maintaining PLC systems, process controls, speed regulation equipment, and modern IoT-driven HMI solutions to support automation in advanced maritime engineering projects. Core responsibilities include system design, troubleshooting, data logging configuration, and the continuous optimization of automated systems. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, technical documentation, and adherence to rigorous safety standards are integral parts of the role.
  • Develop and maintain software for PLC controllers handling Danavis Engineering’s
proprietary systems.
  • Design and configure process control strategies.
  • Program and integrate speed regulation equipment, including Danfoss frequency
converters and DC drive speed controls.
  • Build and deploy HMI and visualization systems leveraging modern IoT and cloud-based
architecture principles.
  • Help develop and expand comprehensive testing systems to ensure 100% operational
reliability.
  • Work with modern integration technologies, data logging tools, and industrial
communication protocols.

Requirements

Technologies We Work With:
  • PLC software: Siemens TIA Portal.
  • Siemens software for advanced HMI programming.
  • IoT / Cloud-based HMI and visualization systems.
  • Process control solutions.
  • Speed regulation equipment: Danfoss and other brand frequency converters, DC drive
speed control.
  • Data logging and visualization platforms.
  • Emulation and simulation tools for pre-deployment system testing.
  • Fieldbus communication protocols (ProfiNet, Modbus TCP/IP, OPC UA).

Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Proven professional background as an Electrical/Automation Engineer with a strong
passion for software development, or a Software Developer with a genuine curiosity for
how physical industrial machinery works.
  • Experience working with any industrial controllers and hardware, preferred Siemens PLC
programming using SCL (or existing proficiency in SCL).
  • Strong ability to work in a team, troubleshoot complex scenarios promptly, and make
independent decisions under pressure.
  • Analytical mindset with a strong orientation toward data-driven engineering solutions.
  • Initiative, high accountability, result orientation, attention to detail, and strong
communication skills.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both orally and in writing (C1–C2 level).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
  • Flexibility and readiness to travel internationally for project commissioning up to 30% of the
time (with 70% based in Klaipėda).
Nice to Have
  • Prior experience with data logging and visualization projects.
  • Solid understanding of ship engine room systems, marine sensors, or related onboard
automation equipment.
  • Experience in electrical schematic design and creation, preferably using ElectroCAD
software such as Eplan, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks.
