Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and develop data integration, transformation, and analytics solutions across our MS SQL or Snowflake environments.
- Implement reliable data ingestion ETL/ELT pipelines from a variety of source systems.
- Build and maintain a layered data processing architecture (ingestion, transformation, analytics layers).
- Design, schedule, and maintain data pipeline orchestration and dependencies using Visual studio or Apache Airflow.
- Ensure data quality, stability, and traceability through validation, automated testing, and monitoring practices.
- Maintain version-controlled pipeline code and infrastructure using Git, following code review and CI/CD best practices.
- Collaborate with business and IT teams, translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Contribute to data security, access management, and GDPR-aligned data governance practices.
- Prepare optimized, reliable datasets for analytics, reporting, and advanced/AI-driven analytical solutions.
- Use AI-assisted development tools (Claude) to accelerate pipeline development, documentation, and code review.
- Participate in technical design reviews and propose improvements to the data platform architecture.
- Mentor and support the technical growth of junior/mid-level data engineers.
What We Expect from You:
- A university degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering, integrations, and data processing pipelines.
- Strong SQL skills, with hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server (query optimization, indexing, performance tuning).
- Experience with cloud data warehousing, ideally Snowflake.
- Experience building and orchestrating ETL/ELT pipelines with Apache Airflow (or comparable orchestration tools).
- Proficiency with Git for version control and collaborative development.
- Working knowledge of Python or another scripting language for data processing and automation is a plus.
- Understanding of data warehouse and analytics architecture and layered ("medallion"-style) data processing approaches.
- Experience ensuring data quality, stability, and reliability across test and production environments.
- Comfort working with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g. Claude) as part of the development workflow.
- Ability to collaborate across teams, communicating technical solutions clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Independence, sense of ownership, and initiative in identifying and proposing technical improvements.
- Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced engineers is a plus.
