Staff Data Platform Engineer

We are building a new team for a new digital bank from scratch! The new data team will build, implement, and continuously improve a modern data platform.

As a Staff Data Platform Engineer, you will be a technical leader and one of the key technical decision-makers shaping our data platform from the ground up. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will combine deep engineering expertise with architectural thinking and the ability to influence how the wider engineering team builds and operates our data ecosystem.

You will not only build solutions yourself — you will shape how we build them. You’ll provide technical direction, challenge assumptions, and help create a strong engineering culture focused on quality, scalability, and sustainable technical decisions.

Every day, you’ll be #closer and:

• Build our entire data architecture, ingestion, and orchestration from scratch, with full freedom to choose your tools and logic;
• Take over and migrate existing data flows currently managed by external vendors;
• Shape our AI journey by building the infrastructure for future Conversational Analytics;
• Design and maintain robust, scalable cloud solutions that address real business needs;
• Ensure high code quality, performance, and drive best practices across our data ecosystem.

To be #closer, you’ll need:

• Experience in Data Engineering or DevOps fields;
• Proficiency in cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure;
• Advanced programming skills in Python or other related programming languages;
• Experience with data orchestrators (e.g., Apache Airflow, Prefect, Mage);
• Experience with Git for version control and collaboration;
• A proactive, self-starter mindset ready to own a "greenfield" project.

Nice to have:

• Have a proven track record of designing or building data infrastructure/platforms from scratch;
• Have an interest or foundational experience in AI/ML (specifically LLMs or conversational systems);
• Have familiarity with IoC tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible);
• Possess proficiency in working with Docker containers;
• Have experience working with dbt for data transformation and modeling;
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices.
